What’s your name and what fills your time? Tell us a little about your background story and how you got here (First Coast)
Brenda David – Musician/Model/Actress/Humanitarian
I am a native First Coast Floridian. I grew up in the beautiful, historical beach town of St. Augustine as a descendant of the Minorcans who established the town in the late 18th century.
My work life includes music, modeling, and acting but the thing that is dearest to my heart is my decades-long work in my music ministry Soul to Soul, performing for patients in hospitals, hospices, Alzheimer’s, cancer centers, etc.
The beach life has been an integral part of who I am, and since migrating to Jacksonville Beach many years ago, I know I have found my forever home.
Anything special happen over the summer?
It’s been a very exciting summer! I’ve been extremely busy putting the finishing touches on my 4th album of all original music entitled Phoenix Rising. I’ve been so blessed to work on this project with some of the greatest musicians in the world, including Dustin Barber (guitarist for Al Green), and guest appearances by Rebecca Zapen (world-renowned violinist/vocalist), national touring artist Steve Strawley (trumpet and flugelhorn), Kalani Rose (backing vocals) and Sonia Lopes (international castanet artist) to name just a few. We are hoping for a worldwide release in the next couple of months.
Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?
Walking on the beach is one of my favorite pastimes and luckily, it’s just a few blocks away. I also love adventure and traveling the world, especially when combined with going off the beaten path and discovering the authentic culture. I love to dance, see live theater, perform music, throw pool parties, and do anything fun with my loved ones. Faith, friends and family are the most important part of my life.
What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?
I graduated summa cum laude as well as achieving the award for academic excellence with degrees in Health Science and Exercise Physiology. I planned to become a doctor, but life took me in a different direction. Today, I am still extremely passionate about clean food, water and air and all things related to living a healthy life.
What’s the best part of living here on the First Coast?
The First Coast Life is the BEST life! I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants, great nightlife, phenomenal musicians and friends, and the most down-to-earth, friendly communities in the world. We are an international melting pot, but you will always feel welcome and right at home.
