Royalty, magic, political intrigue, romance, passion, and adventure…you can find all these elements of great fantasy musicals, and more, at Theatre Jacksonville beginning on June 9th as the historic theater wraps up its 103rd season with the highly entertaining Pippin. From its first productions in 1972 (when it was directed and choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse) until now, Pippin has stayed an audience favorite with its infectious score, splashy themes and universal messages of hope and love. It won four Tony Awards in 2013, including for Best Musical Revival.
“We often close out our seasons with musicals because they are so much fun, and Pippin is no exception,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone. “Our director and cast are truly amazing, and everyone will delight in this warm-hearted musical journey about the power of ordinary moments.”
Directed by Daniel Austin, Pippin will run from Friday, June 9 through Sunday, June 25. Evening shows begin at 7:30, with two Sunday matinees offered on June 17 and 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are included with All-Access season memberships. Non-member tickets are $28.
Now is also the perfect time to purchase a membership or subscription for the upcoming 104th season, which begins on Sept. 21 with the Classic in San Marco The Diary of Anne Frank and finishes with SHOUT! The Mod Musical in June 2024, with three delicious comedies and a thought-provoking drama about book banning and race relations in between.
