The Florida Ballet opens its 45th season with the world premiere of Roberto Forleo’s, Dracula. Directed and choreographed by Roberto Forleo and highlighting the professional dancers of The Florida Ballet’s Company, the production is the telling of an old, familiar story with a modern take on the legendary vampire.

Theatre Jacksonville Wraps Up 105th Season With Musical Comedy Desperate Measures

Theatre Jacksonville is ending its 105th consecutive season with a delightful musical comedy, Desperate Measures, opening on June 6. Based on the book by Peter Kellogg, who also wrote the lyrics, and with music by award-winning composer David Friedman, this witty and wild musical transforms Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure plot into a Western setting complete with a hot-headed young cowboy. The dangerously handsome Johnny Blood puts his fate into the hands of a colorful cast of characters when his life is on the line. In 2018, Desperate Measures won Best Musical at the Outer Critics Circle and OBA awards and Best Music and Lyrics at the Drama Desk Awards.

“There’s no better way to finish the season than to delight audiences with a gleeful production like Desperate Measures,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone. “It has been a terrific year for our organization, and celebrating with joy and laughter on the stage is an ideal way to celebrate the beginning of summer.”

Desperate Measures will be directed by Daniel Austin and features Aly Blakewell, Alec Hadden, Brennan Moritz, Morgan Perry, Chris Robertson and Neal Thorburn. Shows will run from June 6 through 22, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and three matinee performances at 2 p.m. on June 15, 21 and 22. New to this year, the last Saturday performance of each show will be a 2 p.m. matinee.
