Theatre Jacksonville debuts its Stories on Stage Series in Feb. with first theme Epic Love Featuring Amazing, Unrequited, and/or Incredible Love Stories

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (January 12, 2023) – Just in time for the month of love, Theatre Jacksonville is debuting a new Stories on Stage series, in collaboration with True Story Studios featuring Katie Rubin. Local adult storytellers will be telling adult stories during this series, and the first theme is EPIC LOVE: Amazing, Unrequited, and/or Incredible Love Stories. EPIC LOVE will be presented on Sunday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Theatre Jacksonville’s historic playhouse.

“Our Stories on Stage Series has been inspired by the shared human experience of telling stories,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone. “Since February includes the celebration of Valentine’s Day, what better way to open the month than by sharing inspiring tales of magnificent love.”

Tickets to EPIC LOVE are included with All-Access season memberships. Non-member tickets are $20 Adult/$18 Senior & Military/ $10 student in advance or $25 for all tickets at the door.

In addition to EPIC LOVE, the rest of the 103rd season Mainstage lineup includes:

  • Doubt, opening March 10 – The winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award, John Patrick Shanley has woven a brilliant and powerful drama about a nun and Bronx school principal taking matters into her own hands when she suspects a young priest of an improper relationship with a student. The gripping story is “blunt yet subtle,” “manipulative but full of empathy for all sides,” and brings up “fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty,” as reviewed by NY Newsday and Variety.
  • Four Weddings and an Elvis, opening April 21 – Written by Nancy Frick, this hilarious tale about a four-times-married-three-times-divorced owner of a wedding chapel in Las Vegas will have audiences laughing until their sides hurt. Four funny matrimonies are spotlighted, with truly memorable characters, and they bring new meaning to the phrase “What happens in Las Vegas…”
  • Pippin, opening June 9 – Winner of four Tony Awards in 2013, including Best Musical Revival, Pippin is the story of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary and how he finds the secret to true happiness and fulfillment along the way. With an infectious and unforgettable score written by four-time Grammy winner Stephen Schwartz, this entertaining musical captivates audiences of all ages with its timeless story and universal message.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 3, 2025) –Theatre Jacksonville ushers in spring with a production of the hysterically twisted Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, opening on April 18. Loosely based on Bram Stoker’s novel, this laugh-out-loud romp features five actors who play more than a dozen roles — including sisters, a fiancé, a famed female vampire hunter and the dangerous and sexy Count Dracula.

“We often follow our more serious theater offerings with light-hearted hilarity, and this play does not disappoint,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone. “The witty nature, physical gags and clever wordplay of this over-the-top tale guarantee our audiences an unforgettable experience.”

Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors will be directed by Ron Shreve and features Jordan Born, Emily Johns, Rachel Johns, Katie Johnston, and Christopher Watson. Shows will run from April 18 through May 4, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and three matinee performances at 2 p.m. on April 27 and May 3 and 4. New to this year, the last Saturday performance of each show will be a 2 p.m. matinee.

After Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, the final Theatre Jacksonville Mainstage season production will be Desperate Measures by Peter Kellogg and David Friedman, opening June 6 — a witty and wild new musical comedy serves up a colorful cast of Wild West-inspired characters who intervene in the fate of the dangerously handsome Johnny Blood.
