Theatre Jacksonville Presents SHOUT! The Mod Musical Opening Friday, June 7

Theatre Jacksonville

Without a doubt, the groovy days of the 1960s were unparalleled – and starting on June 7, Theatre Jacksonville patrons will be treated to a decade-long romp through the music, style and freedom of that era with SHOUT! The Mod Musical. Following five freewheeling gals as they come of age between 1960 and 1970, this delightful musical features such international classic tunes as “To Sir with Love,” “Goldfinger,” “Downtown,” “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” and “Son of a Preacher Man.”

“We love to top off our seasons with fun musicals, and SHOUT! is no exception,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone.     “This off-Broadway hit is a visual and aural feast, with colorful fashions, hip-swiveling music and outrageous dancing.”

Directed by Curtis Williams and with musical direction by Tina Wilson, SHOUT! The Mod Musical will run from Friday, June 7 through Sunday June 23. All evening shows will be at 7:30 p.m., and there will be two Sunday matinees on June 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are included with Gold All-Access Season Membership and Silver Season Subscription packages. Theatre Jacksonville Wraps Up 105th Season With Musical Comedy Desperate Measures

Theatre Jacksonville is ending its 105th consecutive season with a delightful musical comedy, Desperate Measures, opening on June 6. Based on the book by Peter Kellogg, who also wrote the lyrics, and with music by award-winning composer David Friedman, this witty and wild musical transforms Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure plot into a Western setting complete with a hot-headed young cowboy. The dangerously handsome Johnny Blood puts his fate into the hands of a colorful cast of characters when his life is on the line. In 2018, Desperate Measures won Best Musical at the Outer Critics Circle and OBA awards and Best Music and Lyrics at the Drama Desk Awards.

“There’s no better way to finish the season than to delight audiences with a gleeful production like Desperate Measures,” said Theatre Jacksonville Executive Director Sarah Boone. “It has been a terrific year for our organization, and celebrating with joy and laughter on the stage is an ideal way to celebrate the beginning of summer.”

Desperate Measures will be directed by Daniel Austin and features Aly Blakewell, Alec Hadden, Brennan Moritz, Morgan Perry, Chris Robertson and Neal Thorburn. Shows will run from June 6 through 22, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and three matinee performances at 2 p.m. on June 15, 21 and 22.
