Jessica Shockley Hall, previously a resident of Atlanta, GA, has called Jacksonville Beach home for the last thirteen years. Jessica is an oil painter and has practiced sporadically throughout her adult life, learning and working with other artists, recently making painting her primary focus.

Putting her unique contemporary spin on a long-held tradition of artists who have been inspired by the beauty of nature. Jessica is currently working on a body of work based on and inspired by various flora and coastal settings. She is drawn to flowers, particularly for their vibrant beauty and endless opportunities to play with color and form as well as the fluidity and lushness of our vast coastal marshlands.

As with all of her paintings, she hopes, “the joy I felt painting them is felt by the viewer and brings life to someone’s home.”

Full Name: Jessica Shockley Hall

Great to meet you Jessica. So tell us in what part of the First Coast do you reside now and how long have you lived there?

Jacksonville Beach since 2011

How long have you been doing your craft or trade?

I started during COVID so since 2020

What brings out your creativity?

I identify a subject matter that inspires me perhaps a flower by its color and shape or a coastal setting that may have large puffy clouds and I always paint with music and my dog Goose in the studio

What does your work aim to say? Are you trying to bring a smile to someone’s face or add to someone’s home decor?

I hope my work brings a smile to someone’s face as it does add to their home decor through my use of color and whimsy in my designs

Are there any spaces or designers that have influenced you?

I have a wonderful mentor Marisa Yow, an amazing teacher and artist, who has inspired and encouraged me throughout this journey

What is your favorite artistic accomplishment?

My favorite artistic accomplishment at this time is that I took a leap of faith in pursuing a career in art at the age of 46 and hope to continue for the remainder of my lifetime

Do you have a specific piece you would love to talk about or promote?

I recently completed my largest painting to date Stronger Together” 48×48 oil on canvas The painting is of an array of colorful succulents on a crisp white background You can view it on my website https://www.jessicashallart.com/artwork/297272-4008843/available-artwork/painting/stronger-together.html

What is the best way for artists to network?

I feel social media is key

If you had a question you would like to ask another artist what would it be?

What are idealistic expectations as you grow your career in terms of personal growth and also commercial success?

What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?

My favorite thing about living on the First Coast is the sense of community and of course the natural wonders we get to experience living here

How can we see your work?

Is there anything else that you want to tell everyone?

I have really enjoyed working one-on-one and collaborating with clients on commission pieces and would love to work with your audience on a special piece for their home or loved one.

  1. We love the two paintings Jessica created for us! She is an inspiration for our daughter who is also an artist.

  2. My entire guest bedroom theme; of color and structure is base on a beautiful painting Jessica gave me for my Birthday. This room is my “Happy Room” and my favorite room in my cottage. The colors awake your senses and bring your attitude to being— Thankful to God, every single day. The painting is primarily the gorgeous colors of the Sunshine! Who can awake in such a grouchy mood; awaking to this! This painting is such a treasure. ❤️👍

  3. Jessica’s art is amazing. I am really enjoying the coastal pictures she’s added. She is also a beautiful person inside and out!!
