For many years Jacksonville has been an international player in the music industry with bands like the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, Limp Bizkit and others all hailing from the First Coast. As time passed us by the artists from these bands and many others have gotten older, bands have come and gone, and many musicians have come to make Jacksonville their home. This has also created a unique music family on the First Coast and in turn has provided an opportunity for artists to have success in drawing crowds from people who just love to hear a variety of great music.
Bar and restaurant venues experience a great challenge when booking live music in that the expense of simply operating their establishment plus the added cost of paying bands creates a risk of losing money if enough people don’t come out and support the venue and the band.
With so many local venues and so many local bands vying for a spot on the stage, there is never a shortage of great music available for fans to choose from in Jacksonville and one of the local venues who go the extra mile to provide music is Whiskey Jax. Showcasing bands like Smokestack, Street Preacher, VOX and others, Whiskey Jax has built a solid reputation for great music and enjoys the success of music fans supporting their efforts. Now Whiskey Jax has announced that they will be bringing nationally renowned artist, Jasmine Cain, to their stage on February 18, 2025.
Cain is known as a hard charging rock n roller all over the country, but on February 18 her performance will be a toned down, solo acoustic show, not unlike the old MTv UNPLUGGED. It is a more intimate setting with Jasmine up close and personal, talking to fans as she performs, something we rarely get to hear.
Jasmine told First Coast Life that her acoustic show began in 2020 when Covid was wreaking havoc on the music industry. “When Covid hit we were all scrambling to make a living and Florida was like the only state that was allowing any kind of live performances, so we packed up the van and headed south to play some gigs. We had seven shows in Florida, and they all produced a great turn out, and we couldn’t have been happier!” Cain said. “After that success we couldn’t wait to try it again and the following year we did 20 shows in Florida, and it’s grown every year to I think we have thirty-five shows booked for this tour in 2025.”
For anyone not familiar with Jasmine Cain, her band is a favorite at events like Bike Week in Daytona and similar events in Sturgis, Myrtle Beach and Texas, as well as on the other Rock N Roll circuits, but Jacksonville has been a rare stop for her band, only playing here three times. Local fans have mostly had to travel to catch her act so her upcoming performance at Whiskey Jax is a special treat for locals who enjoy hearing her perform. Linsey Ritch, of the Sons Of The Beaches said, “We’re totally stoked to have Jasmine play right here in our backyard. And to get to have her acoustic show is a bonus because we are used to traveling to see her band perform, so we know that show well, but now we get to hear her softer side!”
Tom Fisher, owner of Whiskey Jax, has seen his share of out-of-town acts come through Jacksonville and Fisher added, “We are beyond thrilled to have an act the caliber of Jasmine Cain want to play at Whiskey Jax. We are doing everything we can to get the word out because it’s rare that music fans get to hear her here in North Florida. And the fact that we get to host her acoustic set is even better. We are really looking forward to this.”
On playing Whiskey Jax, Jasmine said, “Once I put the word out that we were playing at Whiskey Jax in Jacksonville I immediately started receiving texts and messages on what a great venue that is and I was so happy to know that they have the support of so many music fans. In this business it’s rare to hear so much love on a venue!” Fisher added, “With events like this we do have a large turn out and I urge fans of Jasmine to call and make reservations. Having a table reserved prevents you from having to stand in the back and makes for a much more enjoyable experience.”
Jasmine also wanted to point out out, “Please check us out on our website and see how to join our street team! We have a really cool opportunity to get involved with us that fans are really digging! And we use Bands In Town for our tour dates so I always recommend that fans go there and create an account because you can always find out a lot of information, but the best advantage is that you get notifications when I’m playing in your area.”
Other Florida dates for her Bike Week shows in Daytona were announced January 27th:
