Makenu Chocolate is a bean to bar chocolate shop located in the heart of Atlantic Beach, Florida. Our mission is simple- create chocolate people love from cacao sourced ethically.
We’ve always had an exceptional (and dare we say, refined) sweet tooth. We’re Jessica Diebel and Tucker Juan. Before Makenu, Tucker started Topsy Toffee in 2014 from his mother’s recipe book. Topsy Toffee is a gourmet small batch toffee. Jessica got a taste for the source – roast – create process during her years working with one of Jacksonville’s most beloved coffee roasteries.
Makenu, translated literally to trail or imperfection in Maori, is the culmination of our journey. Together, we’re combining process and passion and creating what we hope will be a chocolate shop serving our local community and global palates for many years to come.
We proudly serve Bold Bean Coffee’s The Dark Side on espresso, the base for your favorite shot, cortado, or latte. Our coffee menu hits all the marks from the clean regular cup o’ coffee to your iced latte with our house made syrups, as well as a selection on non-dairy milk options. Cultivate Tea and Spice options include Organic Ceremonial Matcha, Native Elderberry Yaupon Tea, Lemon Honeybush, and a Breakfast Blend. We also offer retail bag options from a range of Local Roasters, currently including Bold Bean Coffee Roasters, Longroad Coffee Company, Pacos Coffee Roasters, The Flamingo, Sequential Coffee, and CatBird Coffee Roasters. Our first non-local option, Vigilante Coffee, is also in house.
We currently serve:
Espresso (1.5-2 oz hot)
Macchiato (2.5 oz hot)
Cortado (4oz hot)
Cappuccino (6oz hot)
Latte (8-12oz hot, 12-16 oz iced)
Americano + Drip (8-12oz hot, 12-16 oz iced)
Matcha (8-12oz hot, 12-16 oz iced, as a tea or latte)
Hot Chocolate (8-12oz hot)
Milk Options – Skim, Whole, Breve, Almond, Oat
House Made Syrups – Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, Cardamon Rose, Lavender, Toffee
