What’s your name and what fills your time these days?
Carole Mayedo. Music, especially playing the electric violin, singing and performing original songs with my band CMB (CaroleMayedoBand) is what fills most of my time these days! And….hanging out with my incredible partner, Phyllis on our amazing porch in our wildlife preserve on Sherman Creek in Atlantic Beach.
Anything special going on for this summer?
I performed at Dancin in the Streets this year and that was so fun! I traveled back to CA to visit old friends.
COMING UP: I will be performing all original music at MUDVILLE 9/20/24 and my band, CMB, is the opening act for THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW at The Florida Theatre 10/26/24.🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟♂️
Spending time with my family who are now down the street and around the corner in GA, and with my friends, taking care of our 2 wonderful little dogs Harmony and Melody (names they came with), gardening, walking, biking, swimming in the ocean, AND riding around in our golf cart!!! (tough life🤣)
What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?
I played music with Neil Young. I have a gold record for playing electric violin and singing with Linda Ronstadt and Nicolette Larson on Neil’s album “American Stars and Bars” and a Grammy Nomination for playing improvisational violin on the children’s album “Are We There Yet” by Papa Hugs.
I grew up in Miami. I loved the warm waters, I hitchhiked to the beach as a kid (scary thought now). Lived in California for 43 years, and the ocean is cold there 24/7 365. Now I miss the California Redwoods and beautiful terrain…
Anything else that you would like to tell the community?
🎶… if you can’t be with the one you love honey love the one you’re with…”🎶
In 2016, I retired to Atlantic Beach. I love this community… the ocean is magnificent, the sunrises glorious (when I get up early enough) and I actually like the humidity! The oysters, Mayport shrimp and local fish, cooked any way, are DEE LICIOUS!
But what I love most is the sense of community… most people truly care about each other, say hello for no reason, share a story, ride their bikes, bring you food and goodies even if you’re not sick, come over for porch time, support Art Walk and Local Live Music, go to Farmer’s Markets and Park Events! and the fireworks at JAX BEACH are great!
I am so grateful for the warm welcome I received when I arrived here, and I continue to share that spirit and love with this community. Thank you everyone for everything…
