Hello everyone. I’m so glad you’re all here for your weekly dose of peace, love & live music. I recorded this week at the Dutton Island Preserve. What a beautiful place. What gorgeous light. What crazy puffy wind we had! There were lots of birds and dogs and human visitors and two Blue Angels buzzed us at 00:29. It was an excellent day in the neighborhood, perfect for this singer-songwriter to give you some stories on my guitar.
This week’s List:
00:54 Pancho & Lefty. Townes VanZandt
I like this dusty little tale about two outlaws, covered by the likes of Emmylou Harris & Willie Nelson. Very folky country western song with a twisty ending that leaves you feeling kind of sad and uplifted at the same time if that’s possible. “They only let him go so long, out of kindness I suppose”
06:32 A Case of You. Joni Mitchell
Truth is stranger than fiction, as we all know. And we all also know that songs & stories are meant to contain elements of both. Thus, the music and the lyrics and the vibe all work together to create magic. Sometimes I feel like a princess in a fairy tale when I experience music. Joni Mitchell makes me feel like I’m listening to a minstrel in the queen’s courtyard. Anyway—this song makes claims about drinking a case of you and still being on one’s feet. Yikes! I really would hate to see myself after drinking a case of anything in one sitting. That’s why they call it magic.
12:40 Our Secret History. Debi Jean
This is a short little story about going to the mountaintop and drinking blackberry wine—Ooh La La
Gee, it’s time to go already. I thank you for tuning in each week. While you’re here check out the amazing artists, musicians, and photos by local photographers all along the first coast and feast your eyes on our lovely amazing neighborhood close to the Sea.
Wishing you Happy Trails until we meet again,
Love, Debi Jean

I’m a late-blooming guitar-wielding singer-songwriter who recently came down from the mountains to retire at the beach. I didn’t know I wanted to be a rock star until I was 63. At the time I was sundowning my CPA practice that I started in 1983. You do the math. Anyway, I got so hooked on music that it changed my life.
I’ve learned that I operate on both sides of my brain, both analytically & creatively and that’s pretty handy. It’s such a rush to write a song, such a cool way to express one’s self. My muse is a friendly butterfly that flits by from time to time with a song story. Gotta dig that! So I’m busting at the seams to share my JOY of music with others.
That’s why I created The Debi Jean Show. I get to have fun doing covers and originals and I chit chat a little. I have other local musicians as guests which helps plug into the amazing music scene here in Atlantic Beach. I have found a new purpose in life and it suits me to a tee. I live in a beautiful place, I get to play music—life is good.
