Hello Me Luvlies—you Lovers of the Sea—My Sea-faring neighbors, which you are if you live anywhere near this paradise we call home. And if you don’t have the exquisite pleasure to live nearby, the internet can fix that and bring you right into our world. Small world, aint’ it? I hope this electronic communication finds you wherever you are well and happy and ready for your weekly dose of the Debi Jean Show where you’ll find some tunes to get mellow to. I hope the stories connect with you in some way. After all, that’s what live music is all about. LONG LIVE LIVE MUSIC! And FirstCoast.Life
This week’s Mellow Set Includes:
00:30 Yellow—Coldplay
I chose this song to learn this week just because it’s a pretty song. And because it was yellow….honestly though—it’s a sweet and simple song about stars shining for you—”it’s true, look how they shine for you.” I hope you enjoy it half as much as me, which would mean I enjoyed it twice as much as you.
05:05 MoonStone—Debi Jean
Why does this songwriter write songs like Moonstone? One asks. It’s Fantasy my dears. It’s a story about Moonstone and her relationships with the Seasons. Very dreamy & trippy (I’m just a girl from the 70’s) and it features G#, giving it a very gypsy like vibe, which suits the song to a T. Come and dream with MoonStone as she kisses Summer’s lips and seeks her true love’s solstice…….
11:27 One of These Days—EmmyLou Harris
“I won’t have to chop no wood, I can be bad or I can be good…” Hmmmm. Dear Santa, Let it be stated for the record that I have been a very good girl. Okay, well the point of this song for me is that Peace of Mind is the prize. I say Yes. More please. Peace of Mind.
With that and a swooping swirl. Debi Jean leaves for the evening. We wish you a Merry Merry Beachy for sure, week, and month, and holidays, and all your days.
Peace & Love,
Debi Jean

I’m a late-blooming guitar-wielding singer-songwriter who recently came down from the mountains to retire at the beach. I didn’t know I wanted to be a rock star until I was 63. At the time I was sundowning my CPA practice that I started in 1983. You do the math. Anyway, I got so hooked on music that it changed my life.
I’ve learned that I operate on both sides of my brain, both analytically & creatively and that’s pretty handy. It’s such a rush to write a song, such a cool way to express one’s self. My muse is a friendly butterfly that flits by from time to time with a song story. Gotta dig that! So I’m busting at the seams to share my JOY of music with others.
That’s why I created The Debi Jean Show. I get to have fun doing covers and originals and I chit chat a little. I have other local musicians as guests which helps plug into the amazing music scene here in Atlantic Beach. I have found a new purpose in life and it suits me to a tee. I live in a beautiful place, I get to play music—life is good.
