Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Music Series–Come on in and join me each week for a spot of music broadcast from somewhere in our neighborhood beside the Sea. See You Around!

Hello Boys & Girls.  I hope you’re having a lovely holiday season here on the First Coast.  And I hope you are behaving nicely, too.  Santa is always watching, you know.  Making that list, checking it twice. I saw him on the beach at 19th Street.  I was there with my sister, Dorene.  We vouched for each other, that we’ve been good girls.  Santa nodded, the ox and lamb kept time—oh—that’s actually a story for another day.  This whole thing was straight out of a storybook, except instead of snow we have sand and palm trees, and it was 70 degrees in December.  Balmy, indeed.  We are blocks from the beach, under the live oaks, I call it the enchanted forest.  I walk or bike over to the beach  almost daily, which is why I love living here. To be able to play music and live at the beach.  Life is Good!

This week’s Set List:

00:47    Humble Me—Norah Jones

In which, I cowgirl it up a little bit.  “I don’t want to call you but you’re all I have to turn to.” The last time I went out on a limb I had to call, too.  It’s looking like a pattern here.

06:22    Heavenly Day—Patty Griffin

Patty Griffin wrote this song for her dog and it’s the first love song she ever wrote.  That’s kind of sad that she didn’t have a human to write for but it’s still an exuberant song that makes me smile every time I play it.  I hope you like it and that you have a heavenly day, just for the sake of the day.

11:22    River—Joni Mitchell

“They’re putting up reindeer, singing songs of joy and peace…I wish I had a river I could skate away on.”  Said river would have to be frozen.  I moved to Florida to avoid freezing.  We do have the St. John’s River, but it doesn’t snow here, it stays pretty green. But the river has to freeze to skate away on.  I don’t intend to manifest that into my life, quite the opposite—I manifested my life here in Paradise.  Hey!  Joni has a song about paving Paradise.

Another week has zipped by and we’re all running around even faster to try to catch up.  Well I wish you all some down time to enjoy your neighborhood wherever you are in the world.  Thanks for tuning in.  I hope you enjoy the selections.

Have Yourselves a Heavenly Day,

Debi Jean
