Owner Full Name: Karen Lee Griffin
Pet’s Name: Layla Belle
Thanks for your time Layla Belle. How old are you and where do you live on the First Coast?
Approx. 2 years and some months.
What breed are you? Do you even know? Best Guess?
Scruffy terrier mix. Mostly look like a flop-eared Yorkie, with a long body.
So how did you come to the Griffin family?
It was such a whirlwind. I was in South GA. A bunch of humans came in vans. Scooped me up and a whole bunch of other dogs. We were in cages. Everyone was barking and crying. We got taken into a building. It was way cleaner and we all got our own food bowl and fresh clean water.I thought, wow I don’t think I’ve ever had my own food and clean water. Then we were all looked over.
It was the best night’s sleep I’d had in my whole life. Sometime later, not sure, some of us were put back into a van and when stopped, were put in another nice place. That’s when I had an operation, I think I heard the word Spayed, at first I thought they said Play. I woke a little sore. I slept most of the day and night. When I woke that’s when I saw her. She cried a little, held me close, and kissed my head. I liked that a lot. We sat on a bench outside and I snuggled in her lap. I loved that feeling. Then I did something, I sighed.
I didn’t know what it was at the time but it sure felt wonderful. After another person looked me over and I got some shots and a chip. I went on another moving trip. When we got to my new home, it was too wonderful to describe.
Describe your pawfect day
First thing, a long yawn and stretch, kiss my Mom’s face. We go out back, I sniff everything, tinkle, and maybe chase a few lizards. Mom gets her coffee and fixes my breakfast. Then we sit out back and she drinks her coffee and waits for me to do #2. We play “get your crabby” a bit. She wipes my feet cuz they are wet. We go in. I usually follow her everywhere most of the day. I still don’t understand why she doesn’t like me to watch her tinkle or do #2.
What things don’t you like?
Most people. I’m afraid of the ironing board. Being left home alone. I’m a Momma’s girl. She’s my #1 and she says I’m her shadow.
Are you ever naughty?
I would say never, I think she would say differently. Like when I eat dried earthworms and won’t come when she calls me to drop it.
Favorite walk?
To the mail box, two houses away. Or across the street to Aunt T’s. so I can aggravate her cats who I like them more than they like me.
Any little pups?
No. Mom says I’m her Top Dog.
What is your favorite snack?
Dried Sweet potatoes and frozen green beans and anything smeared with Jif peanut butter!
What do your Pawparents do?
I think they are tired. They are home most all the time and take me lots of places with them.
What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?
We live on a pond and I get to watch ducks, turtles, lots of birds, butterflies and hummingbirds.
We go to beach some but not really my thing. Oh! and we go to outside restaurants. Ned’s, Beachcomber, Sunset Grill.
Anything else to tell the other dog families? Favorite charities? Favorite Veterinarians?
Keep dreaming, your Furever family IS out there.
S.A.F.E. and SJCHS, and Aylays Acres are my favorite rescues. I came from S.AF.E.
