Kirk Farber has not only spent virtually his entire life helping others, he has spent most of it helping the youth of his community. His track record undeniably qualifies him to be considered a Community Icon anywhere he goes.

What’s your name and what fills your time?

Kirk Lionel Farber. I was born and raised in Duval my entire life, living in NB for 20 yrs, the street was named Twin Place (between Pine and Oak). Then I bought a house and lived in AB for 24 yrs, and moved back to NB in 2008 with my wife Linda Bevilacqua Farber.

My path in life went from Programming Analyst and Computer Consultant to Fitness and Martial Arts instructor and Owner (Body Arts) to starting 2 different companies, ‘The Working Warrior, Inc.’ (1997) and ‘Fitness and Character Education, Inc.’ or FACE4Kids (2003).

Both companies have a focus on respect and leadership, and the websites are worth checking out.

Anything special going on for this summer?

Helping several friends do fitness camps, using concepts and principles from FACE along with training youth over the summer. Also, some fun traveling with Linda (just got back from a river cruise in Portugal)

Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?

My mantra is “Do what you love, love what you do”. I am starting my 21st year of teaching FACE all over Jacksonville for public, private and alternative schools. The programs are FREE for the public schools, taught during the day and consistently requested back by many elementary schools. The Data Metrics show FACE truly does make a difference in the lives of the participants.

What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?

Kirk and Rhett, but in pictures no one knows which is which…

My twin (Rhett) and I are mirror twins (google that), where I am right handed (graduated from UF) and he is left-handed (graduated from FSU). I broke my arm in 6th grade and the next day he broke his leg. He was overseas for 20 years and came back to FL and bought a house 5 houses away from me on 10th St. AB. We fooled a lot of people and lots of good stories of twin shenanigans over the years.

What’s the best part of living here on the First Coast?

A relaxed lifestyle, enjoying life at the Beaches. Though the beaches have grown and changed so much from the 80’s, the energy of appreciation is the same.

Anything else that you would like to tell the community?

A few good quotes to share, that have helped me over the years:

“Show me your friends .. and I will show you your future”

“Vision without Action is a dream soon forgotten”

“If everyone would help their neighbor .. then no one would be without help”

“Don’t worry about what you can not do, but focus on what you can do!”

Suggest a Story: FCL is built on recommendations from the community; it’s how we uncover hidden gems, so when you or someone you know deserves recognition please let us know here.
