Kevin Hogencamp

Author: Kevin Hogencamp

A modern-folk music lover and the father of two wonderful human beings, Kevin grew up aspiring to be a sportwriter, earned a communications degree from the University of Alabama, and is honored to have served as the City of Atlantic Beach’s deputy city manager since 2017. Kevin is a staunch proponent of racial equality, social justice, environmental stewardship, and open government – and considers himself a “watchdog from within” the walls of city hall. Before becoming deputy city manager, Kevin served the residents of the picturesque seaside and marshide community of Atlantic Beach as interim city manager. Kevin is a former public information manager and assistant city manager of Albany Ga. His career in local government communications and administration followed a journalism career, which culminated with Kevin purchasing a struggling local newspaper (The Albany, Ga., Journal) at the Great Recession’s onset and transforming it into a vital community asset, staunch government watchdog, and successful business. Kevin serves on the Florida League of Cities/Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA) board of directors and chaired the FMCA Awards Committee; he worked closely with Atlantic Beach residents and city staffers to develop and publish annual priorities and vision, mission and values statements; and served the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) as an ethics-in-government and communications panelist. Away from work, Kevin’s happiest times include being at music festivals, baseball games, Blue Jay Listening Room, and/or in the company of his children. He enjoys writing and he serves on the University of Alabama Alumni Association Jax Bama Club’s board of directors. He also co-founded Beaches Weekly Discussion Group, which tackled local, state and national issues for more than 15 years; and was entrusted to chair game-changing initiatives including Leadership Albany, Eracism Albany, and the Albany Community Oriented Policing Council.
