Collecting old maps and preserving local wooden windows were the hobbies that sparked an idea that led Jay Wilson and his partner, Cassy, “Dr. B’ Wilson to start MERA MAPS, L.L.C., about five months ago. Jay was trying to come up with an idea to supplement his income to provide excellent nanny’s services for their newborn and to preserve the wonderful quality of life he and his family were enjoying in Atlantic Beach.

The veritable lightbulb popped on one day and he created a floating map inside one of his antique wooden windows. The City of Atlantic Beaches Arts in the Park provided the perfect venue for introducing this unique art history. Surprise, surprise, it was a “huge” hit. And, thus, the business was born.

The Wilsons feel fortunate to be able to conduct business in a seaside village and to provide memories for their daughter in a place like Atlantic Beach. With aspirations of running for mayor of this town, Jay feels the best way to get to know the needs of this community is to start a business, partner with local businesses, volunteer/serve on an Atlantic Beach committee and continue to be a great neighbor.

Preserving and selling old maps of Atlantic Beach is an excellent way to serve the place you live. Most everyone, who lives here, feels a connection with its past history. With Jay’s creations hanging on their walls at home or in their businesses, residents here honor the city by cherishing its past.
