What if there were still something to look forward to in your inbox every Saturday morning—not another advertisement or newsletter, but an invitation to slow down and disappear into a story?
Living on Florida’s First Coast, I’ve always been drawn to places with stories to tell. St. Augustine has been one of those places for me. Every brick street, lighthouse, waterfront, and historic building seems to whisper that something remarkable once happened there.
I wanted to capture that feeling.
Not by writing a traditional novel, but by creating something readers could actually experience.
That idea became The Saturday Journey Society.
Each Saturday morning, readers receive a beautifully designed digital journey following fictional traveler and photographer Gabriel Ashford. Through his personal letters, photographs, journal pages, keepsakes, recipes, and unfolding mysteries, readers travel beside him as each destination reveals another piece of a larger story.
Some journeys take readers through the timeless streets of St. Augustine. Others venture to the rocky coast of Maine or wherever the story leads next. Every location is chosen because it has a story worth discovering.
My goal was never simply to entertain.
I wanted to create a reason for someone to pour a cup of coffee, settle into their favorite chair, and spend half an hour somewhere beautiful before the demands of everyday life begin.
In today’s fast-moving world, we rarely give ourselves permission to slow down.
Stories still have that power.
If The Saturday Journey Society gives someone a peaceful Saturday morning, inspires them to visit a place they’ve never been, or simply reminds them that wonder still exists, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would.
Sometimes the best journeys don’t begin with a suitcase.
Sometimes they begin with a single story.
