Owner Full Name: Monika Hartman
Monika is passionate about adopting rescue dogs, and giving them love and an amazing life. Rescue dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds, and each one is unique with their own personalities and histories. Wyatt was chained to a fence and used as bait for dog fighting. He has come a long way from years of patience, training, boundaries, and a whole lot of love.
Thanks for your time Wyatt. How old are you and where do you live on the First Coast?
I’m around 5 or 6 years old, based on the vet’s guess of how old I was when I was rescued and brought home.
What breed are you? Do you even know? Best Guess?
I’m a Corgen! I’m a mix of Corgi and a Cream Retriever.
So how did you come to the Hartman family?
My owner looked at every rescue and shelter in San Diego and Orange County when she lived in California. She finally came across my photo and story while searching at rescues in Riverside, California. She knew instantly that I was who she had been searching for.
Describe your pawfect day
My perfect day is hopping in the car with my paw parent and going on a road trip. We love spending time together exploring places, learning about history, taking lots of photos, and then sharing our adventures on social media!
What things don’t you like?
I don’t like when dogs run up to my face. I still struggle with insecurity from my past. Even though I am much better, it still scares me when a dog off-leash comes running towards me.
Are you ever naughty?
Some people may think that I am naughty because I will sometimes bite, like when unleashed dogs run up to my face. My paw parent understands it isn’t because I am naughty, it’s because I am scared. My paw parent will tell you that she thinks I am absolutely perfect.
Favorite walk?
Everywhere!
Any little pups?
No little pups. Just a brother from another mother, Apollo. He’s a Mini Daschund.
What do your Pawparents do?
My paw parent and family own a doggy daycare and train dogs.
What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?
Living in St. Augustine surrounded by history and going on adventures all over the First Coast.
Anything else to tell the other dog families? Favorite charities? Favorite Veterinarians?
I have a wonderful vet, Antigua Vet. I have lots of friends at my paw parents’ doggy daycare, Doggy Drop ‘n’ Go. And I absolutely love hanging out with all of my friends at pup-friendly Studio ‘94!

That is a remarkable story and great photos. Interesting read. I Love how you include and feature our cherished locals . After all, they are the backbone, partially, of what makes our city what it is.
