Our favorite First Coast happenings, fun things to do, live music, and more
Starting on Friday, August 12th from 5pm to 9pm, join JWJ Park and Friends for Friday Night Vibes – a bimonthly event miniseries leading up to JWJ’s 2nd Annual Hip Hop Festival in 2023!
We’re so excited to be bringing JWJ’s Hip Hop Festival back next year that we couldn’t wait to start celebrating!
In honor of Hip Hop’s Birthday (August 11, 1973), we’ll be kicking off this miniseries with food trucks, vendors, live DJ sets from Mr. Al Pete and more!
The friendliest farmer’s market in Florida.
With nearly 40 vendors and growing every week, this is a MUST SEE Amelia Island or Fernandina Beach experience!
Organic produce, friendly farmers, wonderful chefs and many other delights await you at this farmer’s market in historic, downtown Fernandina. Each week we mix up our local musicians, our non-profit organizations, and a traditional brick-and-mortar shopkeeper, too.
Our local residents tell us, “Every weekend feels like a reunion!”
2nd and 4th Saturday every month.
Variety of vendors. Crafts, plants, teas, honey, household items, bath products, food, clothing, soap, jewelry, bird houses, jams and jellies, breads, cookies, and so much more!
Family and pet friendly!!!!
Our vendors donate a portion of their sales to the church rather than the church charge a specific amount for their vendor spot. Those donations go towards the outreach programs of the church. Three of the local outreach programs include the Mandarin Food Bank, our own preschool, and Florida Christian Center on Edgewood. So, when you shop at our market you not only help the small business owners but the community as well!!!! Bonus!!!!
We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Mandarin Food Bank if you would like to donate. A collection bin will be by the front door of the church.
There are currently no openings for new vendors. Anyone offering a spot to someone does not have the authority and is attempting to scam people. Our vendors know the process and will reach out to the correct people for questions.
Parade starting point tba…ending at Metro Park downtown Jacksonville across from TIAA Bank field.
Costumes are available to purchase from various bands/troupe participating.

Real Time Entertainment & Management announces the 2nd annual Florida Fin Festival, a free, 2-day ocean conservation, education and music festival, Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18, at Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach. The event benefits OCEARCH at Jacksonville University, a nonprofit dedicated to research, education and outreach to accelerate the ocean’s return to balance.
John Oates from “Hall and Oates” and Moon Taxi will headline the music portion of the event, with support from regional favorites Honey Hounds, The Band Be Easy (performing a tribute to funk), The Ries Brothers and more.
Accompanying the music element is a robust Education Village presented by The Ocean Conservancy featuring an immersive underwater VR experience, a mobile planetarium from the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) and touch tanks from Jacksonville University.
“Ocean Conservancy is thrilled to bring immersive, interactive experiences to this event through our Education Village,” said Florida Director of The Ocean Conservancy, J.P. Booker. “For Florida’s ocean and coasts, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Threats like water quality issues, marine debris, and climate change are all looming over Florida’s coasts. If we work together, there’s a lot that we can do to tackle these problems. Community events like the annual Florida Fin Festival provide the public with opportunities to bond with their neighbors and unite in our effort to protect our ocean and coasts,” Booker continued.
Florida Fin Fest provides a family friendly environment with nationally touring music acts, one of a kind hands-on learning experiences, talks from renowned guest speakers & science experts, and a festival village full of brands with a focus on sustainability, conservation and environmentally-friendly practices. To round off the event, attendees can sit in on panel discussions featuring topics such as: Micro-plastics Micro-fibers & Marine Debris, Water Quality, and Marine Conservation.
“As Floridians who grew up on the water, my brother, Niko, and I created this event where awareness, education, and innovation intersect to propel our most powerful resource, people, into a more sustainable future. We hope to inspire our attendees to make one small change in their daily lives to improve our planet while enjoying an unforgettable experience immersed in music, conservation and education,” said Co-Founder of Florida Fin Fest, Lukas Costas.
The event is free to the public with VIP tickets available for purchase that include a shaded, seated private viewing area with complimentary food and beverage from The Local Neptune Beach.
Additional partners for the Florida Fin Festival include: The Ocean Conservancy, The Museum of Science and History (MOSH), Open Water, iHeartMedia, NexGen, Gratitude Organic Ice Tea, Press Seltzer, 904HappyHour, Fur Ever Yum, John’s Automotive, Blue Jay Listening Room, and more.

Tom Schifanella’s Faces of the Alcazar presents a compelling glimpse of life behind-the-scenes at Henry Flagler’s Alcazar Hotel. The exhibition documents the fragmentary clippings from early-20th century motion picture magazines pasted to the walls of the Alcazar staff quarters by the immigrant staff who lived and worked at the hotel.
Flagler’s grand hotels required a huge workforce to ensure their smooth operation. Staff at resort hotels like the Alcazar included a vast and diverse group of working-class employees: men and women, Black and White, and newly arrived immigrants from Europe all found employment in Florida during the winter tourist season.
Faces of the Alcazar elevates the marginalized voices of the Alcazar Hotel staff. The crumbling magazine remnants left behind by these forgotten individuals evoke the ephemeral nature of youth, memory, and fame. They remain a haunting visual record of the dreams and aspirations of the people who served the wealthy visitors wintering in St. Augustine at the dawn of the 20th century.
Faces of the Alcazar is supported by a grant from the Dr. JoAnn Crisp-Ellert Fund at the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida.
Tom Schifanella combines his background as an award-winning advertising agency creative with a passion for photography, creating images that document the world around us. His clients include ad agencies, cultural organizations, newspapers and online publications.
