A Note from the Director – October 2020

Dear Friends:

We are so happy to finally feel a touch of fall in the air! Normally, that signals the start of a busy season of events and programs and while we know it won’t look exactly the same, we are very excited to have a few events and even a new exhibit coming your way soon!

We are so thankful to everyone who supported and participated in Beach Legends. As our biggest annual fundraiser, the event’s success is critical to supporting our operations and programming. The program was excellent, the honorees humble and deserving and our auction was full of great items and opportunities. As is true with everything we do here, it would not have been possible without our amazing committee. In particular, Susan Miller and Jack Schmidt were the right leaders at the right time as we converted a 7th year event to a virtual event in about 2 months! Thank you to them and the entire committee for making the event something we can truly be proud of.

And finally, October is the month where we start our new “year” and with that, change the leadership of our Board. Randy Hayes has served as the Board President for two years and during that time, has overseen the Train Enclosure restoration, implementation of a facilities management program and has lead our organization to continue to push for more opportunities to serve our community. While his 2nd year was punctuated by the pandemic, his leadership was integral in helping us navigate these uncharted waters.

Thank you, Randy, for all that you have done (and will continue to do) for the Beaches Museum!
Sincerely:

Chris Hoffman
Executive Director
