Howdy Neighbors—all us sea-loving creatures are in this together—Sometimes we have to make an effort to get to the beach if we don’t live on top of it. We might even have to use our imaginations to create a lovely sandy beachy neighborhood in our minds. Think Dogs and dolphins and seagulls instead of lions & tigers & bears. OH MY! Speaking of imagination, it’s STORY TIME at the castle, that’s a sand- castle in our little dream. I’m so glad ya’ll are here. Sit a spell and enjoy some live music.
This week’s Set List:
00:48 Today I Started Loving You Again—Merle Haggard
“I got over you just long enough to let my heartache mend……” Nothing like a good crying country song in my book. I can still feel Merle Haggard singing this song in 1976 in San Francisco. I was close to the stage. Unforgettable! That’s when I started to really appreciate country music. And the cowgirl in me still loves classic country music.
04:48 Woodstock—Joni Mitchell
Fifty-plus years ago I almost went to Woodstock on the back of a chopper. I was a junior in high school and the boy with the chopper was a senior. Yikes. I would’ve had to run away from home……
“We are stardust. We are golden and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden…..”
09:48 An Angel & A Butterfly—Debi Jean
I love writing songs! I’m a late bloomer in the music world so everything still seems so new. Writing a song is such a rush. For me the lyrics are the thing and I love telling stories in songs. The muse is actually like a butterfly flitting by, spreading creative ideas like soap bubbles and we get to choose if we want to engage. I say GO for it! Face your fears & Fly.
And speaking of CREATIVITY, that’s what makes FIRSTCOAST.LIFE such a cool e-magazine. It’s like eye-candy, showcasing this beautiful neighborhood we get to do life in. CREATE ON and GROOVE ON my friends. Thanks for tuning in.
“Happy Trails to you, until we meet again……..”
Yours Truly,
Debi Jean

I’m a late-blooming guitar-wielding singer-songwriter who recently came down from the mountains to retire at the beach. I didn’t know I wanted to be a rock star until I was 63. At the time I was sundowning my CPA practice that I started in 1983. You do the math. Anyway, I got so hooked on music that it changed my life.
I’ve learned that I operate on both sides of my brain, both analytically & creatively and that’s pretty handy. It’s such a rush to write a song, such a cool way to express one’s self. My muse is a friendly butterfly that flits by from time to time with a song story. Gotta dig that! So I’m busting at the seams to share my JOY of music with others.
That’s why I created The Debi Jean Show. I get to have fun doing covers and originals and I chit chat a little. I have other local musicians as guests which helps plug into the amazing music scene here in Atlantic Beach. I have found a new purpose in life and it suits me to a tee. I live in a beautiful place, I get to play music—life is good.
