Welcome Bob Cook to 90 Days of Summer!

Welcome to 90 Days Of Summer! Anything special going on for this summer?

Yes, my daughter Olivia is getting married to Trevor Brooks of Sunrise Surf Shop in June. Funny how things work out sometimes. Most ole timers around the beach will remember Dan Brooks of Sunrise from the 70’s..and I’m no different, I bought many boards from Dan. Now to having our kids getting married, well, it’s really cool. Terry and I love their family and could not be more happy for Olivia and Trevor. I’m also taking a 40-day RV trip with my wife Terry and 2 dogs. Going out west to Wyoming, Idaho and Colorado. We love it out west. There is so much diversity in this country to see. This will be our 4th long trip, and then next summer, Alaska baby!!!!

How do you like living on the First Coast?

Funny you should ask, do you know where the term First Coast came from? My dad, William Cook, of the William Cook Agency, I think back in the late 70s or early 80s did work for the Jax Chamber and Tourist Board, trying to compete with Tampa and Miami for tourist business, they coined Jacksonville the First Coast and it has stuck ever since. As far as living on the First Coast, other than college it’s the only place I’ve ever lived. Always at the beaches, mostly Atlantic Beach. Obviously we love it here, I actually live 1/2 block from the AB house I grew up in, and I know every crack on every driveway from the skating days on Beach Avenue!

Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?

Well, at 64 my skating days are long over and because of neck and back issues surfing and golf has become less and less. I do SUP and I love fishing, whether off the beach or kayak fishing inshore. I basically love anything outdoors and the First Coast has plenty to offer.

Anything else that you would like to tell the community?

The younger generation is running the show now and they are doing a great job. They seem to mix work/family and the outdoors together, taking advantage of all the opportunities the First Coast has to offer. The Jaguars, Jumbo Shrimp, The Icemen, music festivals, water activities, ocean activities, career opportunities, sunshine, and the list goes on! Duuuuval and The First Coast is a great place to live… Cheers!!
