So tell us in what part of the First Coast do you reside now and how long have you lived there?

I’ve lived in Atlantic Beach for 30 years now. I love it here and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

When did you know you had an interest in music?

When I was ten years old I started getting into music!

Did you start with any specific instrument and migrate to other instruments?

I started playing the guitar. Then I took an interest in piano and gave it a try, but I was a 99% guitar guy and it stayed with me for all these years.

Are you currently in a band (or bands)?

No, I am pretty much a solo artist. I’ve been playing solo acoustic gigs for a long time.

Who is your favorite musician or what musician influenced you the most?

John Prine

Are there any specific memories or highlights of your career that you would like to tell us about?

I was on the You Can Be a Star Show in the 80’s. I’ve also recorded 3 albums. And I toured with Ernest Tubb, the country music star.

What area bands or musicians are at the top of your list to go out to hear?

Well, I really dig going out to hear Smokestack. And Ron Perry & Raw Dog are also a favorite. Street Preacher, Larry Mangum and Mike Shackleford round out my favorites.

Do you have a favorite venue that you enjoy playing locally?

Yes, Ragtime is such a mainstay for local music that I have to say that ranks high on the list. Then there’s the Mudville Grille, it has a good vibe and it’s a fun place to play. I used to play gigs at the old Selva Marina Country Club in Atlantic Beach, and now that its switched over to the Atlantic Beach Country Club I still enjoy playing there.

Do you have any gigs coming up to tell our readers about?

I’ll be at Ragtime coming up on June 26. Y’all come out and support local music!

What is the best way for musicians to network?

Well, theres always social media networking, but attending events and jam sessions are really good too.

If you had a question you would like to ask another musician what would it be?

Could you teach me how to play that song?

Personal hobbies or interests?

I like to play golf, and snow skiing is a favorite then theres riding motorcycles.

What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?

Summertime is a little trying, but not for long…plenty of golf courses & I live near the beach.

Where and how can folks learn more about you and/or your band? Links to your website?
