What’s your name and what fills your time?
My name is Fischer Anderson. I was born at Tripler Medical Center of Honolulu HI while my parents were stationed there for a duty tour. I discovered my love for the ocean at a young age when my dad used to take me to Waimea (5 months old) and duck-dive rollers crashing on shore in his arms. We left the island at a young age and the navy brought our family to some amazing locations. It always kept us close to the coast where I deepened my relationship with the water.
Ranging from Virginia, Maryland, Rhode Island and then finally FLORIDA. Throughout all these states my favorite times were spent on a board (typically in the water). In Rhode Island we went to the beach every single weekend where we would surf, boogie, and skim until our lungs hurt from the salt. Virginia summers were spent sailing the Chesapeake, fishing the docks, or lighting fireworks in the woods with friends.
Maryland memories consist of crabbing the bulkheads along the naval academy walls with chicken necks, and wakeboarding down to the rope swing where we once hid from a lightning storm while eating cheese and crackers. Finally, we landed in Jacksonville FL. Florida is nuts… the people, the culture, the weather, and the land. One of my first memories here was watching a 14-year-old jump onto the back a 4ft gator while it was floating under a gazebo. Throughout high school and college, I would find myself enjoying the outdoors mostly surfing Micklers, the Poles, Hopkins, 2nd South, and many more, or fishing for food with the awesome selection of inshore species like flounder, reds, and sheepshead. I left for a few years and came back to Florida after a couple of winters in Colorado and 2 summers in Northern California. I started my business shortly after coming back. The rest is history and still being written as we have grown exponentially over the past 3 years.
Anything special going on for this summer?
In my personal life, I have been focused on moving into my first home and making it mine. I’ve decorated with local artists like Housa Creative, Dallas, Matt Nelson, and others. Beachside Pressure Washing has been focused on building the paver sealing side of the business and offering a special for anybody in the community in need of paver sealing.
Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?
I enjoy wake surfing, fishing, and trying to fix things. Last summer I bought a moped that needed some work for 800 bucks I was able to get it up and running which feels great. I’ve already paid it off in gas savings!
What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?
All of the social media so far for Beachside Pressure Washing has been put together by myself. Video editing, coming up with ideas, etc. It’s been a journey learning the ins and outs of marketing and technology but I am slowly getting better and better.
How do you like living on the First Coast?
We breed a saltwater lifestyle which translates to our cuisine, our values, and our hobbies. We have an amazing community around the Jags and it’s awesome to see that come to life during the season. But we also have an exceptional selection of food which makes the First Coast that much better. I love any of the restaurants run by the Groshell’s from Marker 32 to the Fishcamps, they are DIALED!
Anything else that you would like to tell the community?
Support local! Our local economy depends on those who live within it. Support the small guys. Whether it’s the lady selling soap at the farmers market, the gentleman selling shrimp at Ace, or the pressure washing company around the corner from you. We depend on one another. As a small business owner, it means the world to me to have as much support in the community as we do. It allows us to take pride in what we do and provide a superior service to the ones who choose us!
