What’s your name and what fills your time?
My name is Gary Mack.I am an Artist who has been painting scenes in North Florida for the last 40 years.
Anything special going on for this summer?
I am painting a painting of the Boy Scout Post in Atlantic Beach which I will donate to an upcoming event to help raise money to renovate the 85-year-old building.
Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?
My hobbies are History, National politics, and playing my guitar.
What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?
After discovering the sport of Surfing back in the mid 60’s, and seeing the movie The Endless Summer, traveling to find the “ Perfect Wave” became my obsession and I realized my dream as a surfer by spending half of the seventies living in places that did have perfect waves which were featured in that movie such as South Africa.
How do you like living on the First Coast?
As someone who loves the ocean, I am very happy living here not only for the best aspects of the Beach lifestyle but also for all the great people and friends I’ve made here
Anything else that you would like to tell the community? I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me as an artist by buying my work.I am grateful to have had success painting local scenes such as Silvers DrugStore, The old Jacksonville Beach Pier, Popular areas of town such as the Corner of Atlantic Blvd, San Marco, and our beach scenes from Mayport to St Augustine.
