Mason Seay is one the First Coast’s most respected Ambassadors when it comes to the world of international sports. He is one of the best dad’s in the world, a loving husband and an ardent supporter of all that is good about the First Coast. Jacksonville couldn’t ask for a better man to represent our area, especially with NBC at the Olympics.

What’s your name and what fills your time?

Mason Seay. Full time Dad / Husband Part time Director Producer for NBC Sports – NBC Olympics and Golf Channel. Both my mother and father grew up here and graduated from Fletcher. I was born in Pinehurst, NC but we moved back here to the beach in 1971 – I have lived here since for 53 years.

Anything special going on for this summer?

This summer I will be covering the Olympic Games in Paris. This will be my 13th Olympic Games working for NBC and have covered all of them on site since 2000 in Sydney Australia.

Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?

I like to surf – skateboard and travel. My wife is from Pilsen in the Czech Republic and we go every summer for about 8 weeks. Keeping up with my wife and two children keeps me very busy.

What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?

I used to fly in helicopters directing the aerial images for NBC Olympics and once crashed in the Italian / French Alps. Have over 400 hours in the helicopter and have also flown in Moscow Greece China the UK Vancouver and Rio de Janeiro.

How do you like living on the First Coast?

Living here is a blast. I enjoy the mild winters, spending time at the beach, losing golf balls on the many fine courses and the restaurants and bars at the beach are always packed with friends and family.

Anything else that you would like to tell the community?

Support local shops, restaurants and bars. Check out the Mayport scene… It’s got a lot of cool things going on.
