What’s your name and what fills your time?
Hi! I’m Melissa Noeth. Lots of things going on to fill my time! I have 3 children ages 4, 6, and 9 years old. I also own and operate a local pottery and art studio start-up, The Art House, located in St Augustine Beach. And operating Noeth Films, owned by my husband Jon Noeth, who is a videographer, also keeps me busy! Finally, I also coach my son’s soccer team!
Tell us a little about your background story and how you got here (First Coast)
I grew up in Virginia and came to the First Coast originally to attend the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences for my doctorate in Physical Therapy. I graduated in 2010 and practiced locally for 11 years in the hospital setting, rehab hospitals, and outpatient orthopedic clinics. I am still currently licensed, but do not actively practice at this time.
Anything special going on for this summer?
Since we are back to school it feels like fall already (not literally, with the weather—but here we know Fall is a mindset!) We wrapped up our kids’ summer camps (which we recently won the Community Choice awards for best After School/Summer Camp!) and are kicking off our Kids’ Fine Art Series (which includes instruction in classical drawing, watercolor techniques, and clay handbuilding) as well as our adult wheel throwing and hand-building workshops and classes. We are also super excited to be hosting our first Empty Bowls Fundraiser at The Art House to raise money for Epic Cure FL and the St Vincent de Paul food bank to help alleviate hunger in our community. Tickets will include a locally handmade ceramic bowl, a meal (provided by Beuna Onda and Lotus Noodle Bar) and a beverage. This will be November 18th!
Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?
I enjoy reading for pleasure and for motivation/inspiration! I love to travel and appreciate nature and when I can do both simultaneously it is always a good trip!
What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?
I am the youngest of seven siblings and although you already know this about me, most people that I work with on a day-to-day basis don’t know that I am also a physical therapist. I also aspire to learn how to sail!
What’s the best part of living here on the First Coast?
We love living on the First Coast; for me, the best thing about living here is the beautiful natural environment, beaches, and access to the water.
Anything else that you would like to tell the community?
The Art House exists because I wanted to make this type of artistic opportunity available to the community, including kids. Art is such a great life-long pursuit that is not only good from a physical stand-point for hand-eye coordination, grip strength, fine-motor control, but also a wonderful adjunct to a healthy lifestyle that encompasses mental health, creativity, and neuroplasticity!
