Chillula is an upbeat band with horns that can play all styles of music as well as originals. We specialize in 80’s 90’s 2000’s music and have played with bands such as Sublime, 38 Special, Montel Jordan, and Rebelution.

Thanks Chase for your time and great to meet you. So tell us in what part of the First Coast do you reside now and how long have you lived there?

We’re from St Augustine Florida and we love living in the oldest city and now one of the fastest growing.

When did you know you had an interest in music?

My entire life I’ve wanted to play music. My parents made me get a college degree anyway so I did.

Did you start with any specific instrument and migrate to other instruments?

Always wanted to play drums before guitar so when I moved out I bought myself a drum set and jam out to Taylor Swift while everyone else was at work.

Are you currently in a band (or bands)?

Yes, Chillula.

Who is your favorite musician or what musician influenced you the most?

Our sound is similar to Bruno Mars, Prince, and Justin Timberlake.

Are there any specific memories or highlights of your career that you would like to tell us about?

It was really cool to have the original bass player from Sublime play with us as well as Common Kings all jamming out together. Also getting to jam with local musician friends is the best.

What area bands or musicians are at the top of your list to go out to hear?

I go to the St Augustine Amphitheater as much as possible. Prohibition Kitchen and No Name Bar are also places to see good bands.

Do you have a favorite venue that you enjoy playing locally?

The St Augustine Amphitheater and Prohibition Kitchen.

Do you have any gigs coming up to tell our readers about?

Check our website calendar for upcoming events www.chillula.com

What is the best way for musicians to network?

Go talk to the musicians at gigs during break or after.

Are there any local venue owners/managers that you would like to rave about?

I’m friends with most of them.

If you had a question you would like to ask another musician what would it be?

Wanna jam?

Personal hobbies or interests? Family?

Surfing, motorcycles, skeet shooting, golf. I have a wife and a daughter.

What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?

Warm weather year-round.

Where and how can folks learn more about you and/or your band? Links to your website?

We’re on all the social media. Look up Chillula
