Songstress brings the peace love and happiness with a new record
Kristen Lee is a soul vocalist and songwriter who has recently returned from California where she was finishing her record entitled Peace Love and Happiness. Kristen hopes her positive lyrics will raise the vibe and make people happy!
What part of First Coast do you reside now and how long have you lived there?
Right outside of San Marco. Love it there. 🙂
When did you know you had an interest in music?
Since I was three years old singing with my dad on a tree stump stage. 🙂
Did you start with any specific instrument and migrate to other instruments?
I have always played the “vocal chords” as I tell people lol
Are you currently in a band (or bands)?
Yes I have dates at 1904 Music Hall, Murray Hill Theater and a private event garden party. I also do duo dates around jax and beyond.
Who is your favorite musician or what musician influenced you the most?
I love Etta James. It’s all about putting your heart and soul out there.
Are there any specific memories or highlights of your career that you would like to tell us about?!
Working with Ronnie King who has worked with Tupac, Mariah Carey, etc… has been awesome. We co wrote this entire record. Four new songs will be coming out! We have already released Come Back To Love and my single Peace Love and Happiness!
What area bands or musicians are at the top of your list to go out to hear?
There are so many great talents here!
Do you have a favorite venue that you enjoy playing locally?
I love them all, enjoy Grape and Grain, I have played there in the past
Do you have any gigs coming up to tell our readers about?
Yes! January 7th Murray Hill Theater with Colourway and Sam Unkefer, and 1904 Music Hall with the Good Wood Band! January 9th hope to see you all there!
What is the best way for musicians to network?
Just by lifting each other up, sharing contacts, going to jams, attending each others shows! We are all doing the same thing so it’s great to be a part of such a welcoming music scene!
Are there any local venue owners/managers that you would like to rave about?!
Jason Hunnicut is absolutely bringing it with all he has done and continues to do with the music scene and for original artists and for jax in general! Respect!
