Jim Walker, “Surfdog Photography, is best known around the beaches for his surfing and music photography.
One happy family!

What’s your name and what fills your time?

My name is Jim Walker and I’m spending my retirement with my wife Kristin, continuing with my photography, travel and working on a 108 year old home we bought in the Spring and moved into last August.

Anything special going on for this summer?

Nothing really special this summer planned as we’re enjoying our move back to the Riverside/Avondale Historic neighborhood. I grew up here and it’s nice to have moved back after about 13 years at the beach after 12 years in Tallahassee.

Jim is a regular at all of the Jax Beach Festivals.

Any hobbies or interests worth telling us about?

I’ve always enjoyed both North Florida and it’s First Coast. Until fairly recently, it was still sort of undiscovered by so many folks wanting to move and live here. I really began to feel the impact of local growth starting several years ago, particularly in our beach communities. It’s inevitable I guess when you live in a community that has so much to offer but I do miss the less-crowded days.

What’s one thing (funny, different, cool) that many might not know about you?

I’m continuing with my photography and, as I mentioned, working on our older home and becoming reacclimated to the neighborhood I grew up in in the 1960s and 70s. In addition, Kristin and I are planning a return to the mountains for a bit this Fall.

How do you like living on the First Coast?

While Jacksonville and the Beaches are grappling with increased and pretty steady growth, it’s still a great area with lots of options for recreation and things to do. I hope they appreciated what they have and take care to keep it as beautiful and livable as possible.
