Owner Full Name: Karen Griffin
Thanks for your time Layla. How old are you and where do you live on the First Coast?
2 years old this month.
St. Augustine, Fl.
What breed are you? Do you even know? Best Guess?
Terrier Mix. DNA says a bunch more. Mostly Shih Tzu.
So how did you come to the Griffin family?
I was born into a hoarding situation in South Georgia. I was rescued by a Rescuer place, put in the system. My Momma-to-be saw my picture and fell in love, I was spayed and transferred to S.A.F.E in Cresent Beach. She was waiting when the doors opened that very next morning.
I was placed in her arms, dirty, stinky, eye infection, some skin issues freshly spayed, and scared as poop. I was pitiful. She spent 30 min. with me and knew. She said she had been looking for me for weeks.
She immediately brought me to her veterinarian. He gave me a once over and said with care I’ll be fine. My temporary name was Logan but she changed it to Layla, like the song. Sometimes she calls me other names .. lol
Next week I’ll be with her and Daddy for a whole year. She says she’s the blessed one, I think I am. She got me a trainer, who I love, Monika, and we’re working on my shyness towards people.
Describe your pawfect day
Waking next to my pawrents in bed. Going out to tinkle, breakfast. Going back out to do my other business.
Choosing a toy out of my own toy bin, and dropping it at their feet, whomever is closest. Playing toss, shake, fetch, catch. When I’m tired, I curl up on my blankie bed and take a nap. I have play dates with some of my neighbors. Mom says she isn’t a fan of dog parks. The whole day pretty well revolves around me.
Mom says, “Whatever Layla wants, Layla gets.”
Dad says he’s been bumped from #1 to #2
What things don’t you like?
People, they scare me but my 2nd Mom, Monika is working with me.
Don’t like time-outs, but know I need them, sometimes. I hear Momny tell Daddy, it breaks her heart.
Are you ever naughty?
I guess cuz Mommy always yells when I chase lizards and frogs and those giant grasshoppers.
Favorite walk?
Anywhere not too far from home. We’re working on that also
Any little pups?
Nope.
What do your Pawparents do?
Spend every waking moment at my beck and call. I’m a Princess, you know. They are both Retired. I told you I hit the jackpot!
What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?
The weather, and the many trails, I’m fortunate to live very close to Treaty Park. I like walking the beach shore but am not keen on getting my Princess Paws wet.
