Getting to Know Linda Olsen
Writer Ame Cowan
I knew I had to see Linda’s home based studio when she first shared a picture with me weeks ago! As we made our way to her little slice of heaven, it was almost impossible not to smile as you took in all of the beautiful scenery.
This area is all hers and it’s a 100% positive space. She told me in her kind and humble way, that “she is so fortunate to be where she is in her life”. She wakes up and can’t wait to paint and create.
It took years of course to get to this place and her journey seemed like a fun one. She was raised with her 7 siblings on a historic sailboat that traveled up and down the coast of California.
Growing up directly in nature and on the water was an obvious influence on her artwork. She finds the sea “magical” and it is her “constant inspiration”. She had 5 sisters and this is what inspired her to paint Mermaids.
Linda was a professional photographer by trade who specialized in weddings and portraits. Before that, a long career as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director. Her artwork has been published in many publications, including internationally in Silvershotz Journal of Fine Art Photographers in 2009. Her artwork is currently displayed in FL, GA, CA & St.Kitt’s. In 2020, a unique project debuted internationally which was commissioned and featured 44 of her original mermaids called “Messages from the Mermaids” oracle card deck by HayHouse. Her original paintings are being enjoyed internationally.
She is currently working on this beautiful painting, which I was able to see. The light, depth and energy that surrounds her and her paintings is truly inspiring.
Linda has a beautiful display in our Atlantic Beach Arts Market located at 1805 Mayport Rd. Atlantic Beach, FL and will be present this Saturday, April 17th for our Meet the Artist: Painters Edition.
She will be doing a live demonstration from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Come check her out and 90+ other local artists.
