Cute, Quirky, and Complicated
Owners: Adrienne Cartagena and George Kent
Thanks for your time Busy. How old are you and where do you live on the First Coast?
I’m 6 and a half and I live in the Mandarin area.
What breed are you? Do you even know? Best Guess?
I’m a pug.
So how did you come to the Cartagena family?
My pawrents drove all the way to Dunnellon, Florida on my dad’s birthday to bring me home. I was literally spinning with excitement when I met them, and I didn’t sit still the entire 2.5 hour drive home to Jacksonville. Mom kept laughing and calling me a “busybody” and that’s how I got my name, Busy.
Describe your pawfect day
It starts with a complete breakfast! I require four courses beginning with a gator-shaped Whimzee, followed by a few pieces of banana, and a couple of bites of sausage before rounding out my meal with some kibble.
When breakfast is done, I’ll take a quick nap before heading to the dog park to explore the trails, meet new human friends, and go for “a dip and a sip” in the lake.
There won’t be any other dogs there though because this is my pawfect day, and I’m not here to make four-legged friends! My pawrents have tried really hard to socialize me, but I’m just not into it. I was born this way.
I’ll have a doggie ice cream on the drive home and then play chase, AND tug, AND catch with my pawrents until the only thing I want to do is sleep!
What things don’t you like?
I really don’t like it when anyone but me makes noise of any kind. Whether it’s my Dad sneezing, birds squawking or neighbors doing yard work, I can’t stand I will let everybody know loudly and vociferously. Even the sound of the turn signal in the car sets me off!
I also cannot abide being picked up or having anyone touch my paws.
Are you ever naughty?
I bark relentlessly whenever something displeases me, and I will go full-on hyena to deflect an unwanted touch. Some hoomans think that’s naughty, but my pawrents tell me that other than that I’m a very good girl!
Favorite walk?
I love showing my pawrents where to go when we walk in our neighborhood. I know all the turns and it makes me happy to hear them talk about what a smart girl I am!
Any little pups?
No.
What do your Pawparents do?
My mom is in marketing and my dad is a software engineer.
What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?
I love how dog-friendly it is here, there’s always a new place to explore!
Anything else to tell the other dog families? Favorite charities? Favorite Veterinarians?
Drs. Sutliff and Moore, and the staff at Scott Mill Animal Hospital have been taking the very best care of me since I was tiny pup. They are always patient and kind and happy to see me, even though I can get “feisty” with them sometimes.
