Cody Dylan Pintar AKA Wayne – Music Maker
Tell us in what part of the First Coast do you reside now and how long have you lived there?
I’ve lived in the Jacksonville Beach area ever since I was a little kid and still live just down the road.
When did you know you had an interest in music?
When I was 6 years old my dad brought down my older brother’s beaten-up drum set from the attic and set it up in my room and ever since I hit my first cymbal I was hooked.
Did you start with any specific instrument and migrate to other instruments?
I started on the drums at a very young age and through my dad and brother who both played guitar, I figured out how to strum along with them and from there have found my way to try many different instruments.
Are you currently in a band (or bands)?
I’ve been in and out of bands for most of my life but for a while now I have been making and producing music all on my own which can be hard and lonely at times but I love the creative freedom that comes with it.
Who is your favorite musician or what musician influenced you the most?
I have a wide variety of favorite musicians and bands but I’ll always remember the first time I heard Houses of the Holy when I was a kid and I felt a jolt in my heart and my mind started soaring seeing all the possibilities that music had to offer.
Are there any specific memories or highlights of your career that you would like to tell us about?
The first time that I played live by myself I remember feeling like there was no possible way that I could do it. My nerves were all over the place and my heart was pounding out of my chest as I was waiting to go up. My mind was screaming “NO WAY” yet my feet were taking me up on stage and as soon as I sat down and began to play, all of the doubt and anxiety just disappeared and I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
What area bands or musicians are at the top of your list to go out to hear?
I will always go out of my way to see either Mac Demarco, Petey, or Thundercat.
Do you have a favorite venue where you enjoy playing locally?
Right now my favorite to play at is probably Lemon Bar but Blue Jay listening room is the next goal.
Do you have any gigs coming up to tell our readers about?
I am playing live at Lemon Bar on the 20th of April and the 3rd of May.
What is the best way for musicians to network?
Social media is, of course, the way of the future when it comes to connecting with those around you but honestly, there is no better way than just going out to live shows at local venues and meeting others that are like-minded in an organic way.
Are there any local venue owners/managers that you would like to rave about?
Blue Jay listening room is a fantastic Venue that always brings in unique artists and I hope to play there soon.
If you had a question you would like to ask another musician what would it be?
How do you keep the flame burning consistently?
Personal hobbies or interests? Family?
I love to Surf whenever I get the chance and there’s nothing like hitting the driving range to blow off some steam.
What’s the best thing for you about living on the First Coast?
First Coast is a great place if you love the ocean which luckily I do so the best things for me are opportunities to stay moving and the unique feeling of the laid-back beach life that is constantly evolving.
Where and how can folks learn more about you and/or your band? Links to your website?
I don’t have a website yet but my Instagram page is where I put out all of my information for upcoming music, film, and shows. @CodyPintar
Is there anything else that you want to tell everyone reading this?
I’ll be releasing my first set of singles on Spotify and other platforms starting in June and there will be much more to come with Videos and Photography on my social media very soon.
