FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beehive: The ‘60s Musical
Opens at Theatre Jacksonville on Nov. 5

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2021) – Starting on November 5, Theatre Jacksonville will present Beehive: The ‘60s Musical – a coming of age story about young women during the 1960s era that will have you literally dancing in your seats. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t moved by powerful rock from that time period, including unforgettable female artists who have stood the test of time, such as Diana Ross, Janis Joplin, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, and Tina Turner.

“Set in one of our nation’s most tumultuous decades, Beehive traces the major issues of the 1960s, incorporating popular songs of the day that everyone will recognize and love. It is an enormously fun production that will have you tapping your feet no matter where you sit,” said Executive Director Sarah Boone. “Yet, it is still very relevant for all audiences because it deals with subjects that we still grapple with today, such as race relations and women’s empowerment.”

Directed by Theatre Jacksonville Education Director Ron Shreve and choreographed by Curtis Williams, Beehive will run from Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 21. All evening shows begin at 7:30, with two Sunday matinees offered on November 14 and 21 at 2 p.m. Cast members include Ma Bones, Julia Fallon Jones, Sara Beth Gerard, Keri Hicks, Audrey Mobley, Felecia Neal, Theresa Pazanowski and Sadie Akers.

All ticket holders from the 100th season and All-Access members from the 101st season will automatically have tickets to Beehive, since it replaces the production of Matilda: The Musical, which was originally slated for 2020. They must contact the box office to rebook their seats. Individual tickets are $28 each and may be purchased by visiting our ticket page at theatrejax.com.
